Don’t Get Confused by “3-Color Changing” and “Triac Dimming” When Shopping for Lights!

Many customers assume that anything labeled “adjustable” means the light can dim.
But in lighting, changing color temperature and adjusting brightness are two completely different functions.

To avoid misunderstandings, here’s our clear statement:

👉 All fixtures labeled “3000–6000K Adjustable Light” in our store are 3-color changing models (color temperature switching, not brightness dimming).
👉 If you need brightness dimming, please inform our customer service or leave a note: “Need Triac dimming.”

1. Core Difference: Color Temperature vs. Brightness

3-Color Changing = Switching Light Color (Color Temperature)

Triac Dimming = Adjusting Light Brightness (0–100%)

These are not the same feature.

2. 3-Color Changing: Quick Switching Between Light Colors

3-color changing focuses on color temperature adjustment.
The fixture provides three preset light colors that you can switch using a wall switch or remote control:

  • Warm Light (3000K): Cozy, relaxing; ideal for bedrooms or living rooms.

  • Natural Light (4500K): Bright and neutral; great for study rooms or work areas.

  • Cool Light (6000K): Clear and vivid; perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, and makeup spaces.

💡 Note: 3-color changing adjusts only COLOR, not brightness.
💡 “3000–6000K adjustable” means color temperature switching, not dimming.

3. Triac Dimming: Smooth Control of Light Brightness

Triac dimming (also known as phase-cut dimming) focuses on brightness control.
The light’s color temperature remains fixed, but its brightness can be adjusted smoothly from 0% to 100% using a compatible wall dimmer.

Examples:

  • Ultra-low nightlight brightness

  • Medium brightness for reading

  • Full brightness for studying or working

Brightness changes continuously, not in preset levels.

💡 Important: Triac dimming requires a compatible LED driver and a proper Triac dimmer.
Using a non-compatible dimmer may cause flickering or poor dimming performance.

4. Common Misconception:

“3000–6000K Adjustable” ≠ “Brightness Dimmable”!

Here’s how to choose correctly:

✔ Choose 3-Color Changing if you want:

  • Different atmospheres

  • Warm / neutral / cool light switching

  • General home lighting with fixed brightness

✔ Choose Triac Dimming if you want:

  • Adjustable brightness

  • Nightlight → reading → work light on the same lamp

  • Smooth and precise brightness control
